my philosophy on newborn photos

The happiest day of my life was the day I brought my first son home from hospital. I have such fond memories of the baby bubble, the way life’s other demands temporarily pause to allow you to stare at your baby endlessly... But it’s all a blur, let’s be honest. The memories are hazy at best. What I remember most is the feeling. Hope, wonder and elation mixed with fatigue and physical and emotional vulnerability.

My newborn work is very organic. I dont pose your baby un-naturally. I prefer baby to be resting in Mum and Dad’s arms, held, caressed and gazed upon. My main focus is making sure you are comfortable, and your baby’s needs are met. Leave the rest to me.

Let me capture you right in the thick of the sleep deprived, hormone-fuelled, loved-up tender time of getting to know your new baby. But please I don’t want you to fuss... skip the housework, come to my studio, let me dress you and baby, let me make it all look as sweet as I know it can feel.

Or, if your baby is a few weeks old and you are feeling up to it, lets head outside somewhere beautiful and capture you in Mother Nature’s backyard instead. Wherever we go, promise me one thing…

If you are a committed outdoor type you might want to consider a signature session (outdoor at sunset) with your newborn. Choose the perfect backdrop for your session from any of my favourite locations near and around Hobart. Let me immerse you and your loves ones in a beautiful corner of Tasmanian landscape.

Client closet

Styling is one of the most important elements of my sessions and helps achieve the dreamy cohesive look you see in my images. With my signature session I offer face to face styling consultation preshoot and full access to my extensive client closet for Mums and infants. I’ll give you lots of tips for dressing the rest of the family too so that nothing distracts from your togetherness in your images.

During the session

During your session you can relax and just enjoy your time with your family. I strive for connection and candid images so I will help guide you into relaxed “poses” that allow you to simply connect and interact with your family in ways that feel comfortable and natural. During our time together, you don’t have to worry about a single thing expect being together.

After the session

Once your gallery is delivered you have access to some of my beautiful heirloom print products including my locally-made handcrafted frames. I have personally selected the highest quality and most eco-friendly, sustainable products that I could source for your completed artworks.

Nel and Alex took 8 week old Archie adventuring outside for their incredible session which culminated in a romantic surprise proposal!

Let me welcome you into my home studio for your newborn session. I actually believe these are the sessions most suited to the studio environment. Scenes can be customised to your individual tastes and I have an extensive array of beautiful wraps, blankets and infant rompers.

I cannot wait to indulge you and your loved ones with a personalised, relaxed experience. My goal for your session is to make sure you feel completely comfortable and at ease from the moment you arrive.
