STYLING YOUR SESSION
A few thoughts from me.
Putting together outfits for your session can be a little daunting. This guide is here to help narrow things down for you a little. If you are drawn to the style of my images, a small component of that is the clothing choices; colours, textures & styles. I like to dress my clients in such a way that the outfits flatter the wearers and look cohesive, without distracting from your connection, or looking too matched.
For the Ladies
Let me dress you
I love the romance of clothes that move and flow as you move. I have a large selection of women’s dresses, maxi skirts and kimonos for you to choose from in my client closet.
It is important that you feel good and that you are comfortable to move around and interact with your loved ones during your session. Some of the items in my closet are impractical “statement” dresses and I always suggest that you choose something else for the majority of your shoot and save the statement dresses for just a few shots. Whilst I adore these items and the dramatic images they produce, they do not always allow for a great deal of movement and spontaneity.
Deciding on your outfit first, can then make it easier to style the rest of your family. Keeping patterned or floral pieces to one person, can also avoid clashes in your outfit choices.
There is no obligation to dress from my client closet however most of my female clients do choose to do this. Currently I have a good range of options from size 6-14.
If you're looking to buy something new for your session, below are some brands/stores that I love and I'm sure you will too.
Or dress rental is also another great option, if I don't have your size available in my client closet
For the blokes
Be ready to toss the kids!
I like to avoid stiff business shirts and encourage men to consider linen shirts (which look more relaxed) or Henley tops . Fitted t-shirts also look good. T-shirts layered with an open shirt over the top is very flattering. Chino pants in various shades are always great (beige, tan, brown, olive, rust).

For the little ones
Keep it cute & timeless
I like children to be comfortable so that they are able to run and play. Again I like to avoid looking too formal. It is wise to have a knit jumper or cardigan and neutral long sleeved layers incase it is cool. Avoid stiff collars or prickly textures against the skin that will irritate them. For studio sessions (where I can control the temperature) I like rompers and have a selection of pieces up to size 5. For little Girls I adore floaty dresses and layers, avoid things that will be too long or trip them.
As outdoor sessions are held right before sunset, making sure you consider the season is important. Once that sun dips it can get quite cold, so layers in winter are a great way to keep the kids happy. Chunky knits are a perfect way to add texture and depth, plus beanies and hats are a really cute accessory to add on.
My client closet offers options for newborns, and some pieces for children size 1 - 5. Alternatively, below are some beautiful options if you’re looking to buy a new outfit:
